Cabinet Fever!

Thursday was perhaps the most exciting day of the build so far… I called in on my way home from work and to my absolute delight the cabinetry has all been installed (bar the overhead cupboards in the laundry). Alas, I was without my trusty iPhone and so I couldn't get any photos. So today we all paid a visit to the house and I had a good look at all of the beautiful joinery that has been installed.

If you want a little reminder of our choices see this post - "Studio M at last"

Here’s the pic fest you’ve all been waiting for…

The Powder Room cabinetry, looking forward to a lovely pendant light in here. Waiting for the caesarstone in "Ice Snow"

Laundry... but without the overhead cabinets or plaster bulkhead above. Waiting for the caesarstone in "Ice Snow"

Ta-Da... our lovely kitchen! It looks a little brown in the pics but it actually a textured grey colour called "New Graphite". I think that the Waterfall caesarstone in "White Shimmer" for the island bench and oven bench is going to be divine!!!
Our lovely oven wall...loving the under oven drawer and concealed rangehood, not to mention the star of the show... OUR HUGE WINDOW SPLASHBACK!!!

Kitchen wall in Laminex "Polar White Gloss" (vinyl wrap), space for fridge, microwave tower, pull-out pantry and corner pantry

The pull out pantry!

The corner pantry.

The family bathroom. I'm so glad we added the extra basin! Waiting for the caesarstone in "Ice Snow"

Our beautiful wall hung white gloss ensuite vanity. It will look awesome with the thick apron caesarstone on top in "Urban".

There's plenty more that has gone on this week at the house but as Cam mentioned last post (Action Stations) i wont go on about them.

REAL PROGRESS = A VERY HAPPY GIRL :)
(& I guess Cam would say a happy wife is a happy life...lol)

  3. YAAAAYYYY!!!! Cabinetry is looking awesome! Especially your kitchen. Love all the white vinyl wrap. And they installed your handles correctly (slightly jealous)...

Glad the excitement level has increased - good pay off after a slow start to the year. Enjoy the moment (as I'm sure you are ;).

    Cheers,

  4. Btw, did they let you keep the larger island bench in the end?

    1. We had to cut down the width of the bench by 50mm but we got it taken out of the outer side cupboard depth instead of the overhang.

  6. Hey Cam & Kirsten,

We're currently looking at drawer inserts for our kitchen (e.g. utensil trays, spice holders, etc.) and notice that standard drawer depths are 500mm (e.g. Ikea and Haefele). However, all our drawers on the side where the oven is installed are shorter than this. They have to allow for the gas pipe behind the stove, but this should only affect the drawer to one side next to the oven, not the entire bank of drawers along the entire bench. It appears for simplicity of the sizing, all ours are the same depth so we can't get inserts for them.

Can you do me a favour next time you're at your house and check the depth of all your pot drawers?

    Cheers,
    Nat

    2. Nat, The depth of the drawers are all the same. The panel at the front is about 230mm and internally the depth of the rails(IYKWIM)on each side is about 130mm deep. We have banks of 3 drawers, Maybe the sizing for ikea etc applies to banks of 2? Have you checked out blum or hettich?

    3. Sorry guys, when I said depth I meant how far back they go into the cavity of the carcass (does 'internal length' describe it better?...) ie. If you measure the internal space from the front of the drawer to the back.

      Sorry for the confusion!

    4. Thats okay Nat, I didnt measure it but ive just checked the plans and i think the drawers under the window (next to over) look like they will be 500mm deep the benchtops are 600mm. Ill check next time we are there and let you know. :)
